This believe it or not, is my first ever Apple Crumble made by moi. I was surprised at how easy it was to make - the only bit I didn't enjoy doing was peeling the apples, not one tiny bit. The point of this apple crumble was pudding to my Dads birthday dinner. When my Mum asked me to make it, my repsponse was - you can't go wrong really - just add a LOT of custard and everyones happy. That was definitely true.
For this you will need (Serves 8)
200g unsalted butter,1 cups all purpose flour,
6 Apples,
Pinch of salt,
6 tbsp Sugar
200g unsalted butter,1 cups all purpose flour,
6 Apples,
Pinch of salt,
6 tbsp Sugar
1. Peel and chop the apples, pop in a bowl and mix in 2 tbsps sugar add more if you wish
2. Pop the apple mixture into the hob on a low heat until apples are soft (10 minutes)
3. Add the flour and chopped up butter and a pinch of salt and mix together in a bowl. Do not knead, use your fingers to make it into a crumble consistency. Add 2 tbsps sugar
4. Arrange apples into a oven proof dish, then top with the crumble mix. Do not flatten it down, just make sure everything is covered.
5. Sprinkle the top with sugar
6.Pop in the oven for 25 - 30 minutes at 180 degrees.
And there you have it one easy peasey, impressive pudding. Don't get carried away with how thick it looks, ours looked pretty thin throughout, but when it came to serving the portions were more than enough.
