I am ashamed to admit that I haven't cooked, baked or done anything remotely domestic since Easter! Yes you read that right! Cooking is way down on my list of things to do. Reading Emily's blog Cupcakes and Cashmere, makes me feel bad. She always manages to find time to cook all sorts of fabulous things.
So to hopefully give me a kick up the butt, to learn how to cook, I may just share with you guys once a week, my kitchen disasters!
Today I attempted to make cheese scones using this recipe I bet your thinking how can cheese scones go wrong?............keep reading

For some reason they didn't raise - at all! However they taste pretty good. Not too horrendous for a first attempt.
Any recipes you think I should try?
Have a great weekend

I'm impressed you're even trying to cook anything! 'Fashionistas' are not destined to be domestic goddesses, well that's my excuse anyway. I haven't cooked anything in, ooh...about forever!!

I think you should have taken some kitchen plastic wrapper (do you know what I mean? you put it over a bowl, still can see whats in there but its closed though.)and on top of that a kitchen towel (or tea towel? not sure which one it is in English, sorry, I mean the one you dry your dishes with) and make it just a little bit wet, just some quick dripping, just about as wet as it is when you've used it several times to dry your hands at a time. then put it over the though (no touching so over a bowl with the dough or something) for most of the time about 45 minutes. maybe that helps.

I often bake cakes, oliebollen (haha don't think there is an Englisch word for that, they are round, very greasy, orange-brownish sometimes with raisins and are mostly eaten at the last day of the year) and much more and I sometimes have to make something rise. Always works great like this :)

Flat or not, they still look tasty!

Do you like chocolate? This is my favourite brownie recipe. It's so easy, too!

:: POLKA DOT BROWNIES ::

:: Ingredients ::
200g dark cooking chocolate, chopped
250g butter, chopped
1 1/3 cups brown sugar
4 eggs
1/3 cup cocoa powder, sifted
1 ¼ cups plan (all-purpose) flour, sifted
¼ teaspoon baking powder
350g orange flavoured chocolate balls

:: Method ::
1. Preheat the oven to 160*C (325*F). Place the chocolate and butter in a small saucepan over low heat and stir until melted. Set aside to cool.
2. Place sugar, eggs, cocoa, flour and baking powder in a large bowl. Pour over cooked chocolate mixture and mix well. Stir in the chocolate balls.
3. Pour into a lightly greased 20cm (8in) square tin lined with non-stick baking paper. Bake for 50 minutes or until cooked when tested with a skewer.
4. Cool in the tin. To serve, cut into squares.

Sometimes I substitute the Jaffas for macadamias. Either way, it's awesome!

I love baking! I'm always trying new recipes, and if there is something you must try it is whoopie pies. They are AMAZING. Your life will be forever changed.

1tsp of baking power next time and they will rise. Just mix the ingredients enough so that they are all combined, you need to keep as much air in the mixture as possible.
